Computer Programming and Analysis (Client/Server Programming) (A26C)
Computer programmers are the people who changed our lives as much as the fellow who invented the wheel. Without programmers, computers are useless. Applications programmers design, write, test, and debug software programs in industry-specific languages from astronomy to zoology. Systems programmers oversee and integrate the work of programmers and are technical advisors to systems analysts, application programmers, and operations personnel.
The Computer Programming and Analysis (Client/Server Programming)
associate in applied science degree prepares students for a number of high-paying positions
including programmer, programmer-analyst, software developer and software engineer. Our relationship with Microsoft’s Developer Network Academic Alliance allows you to download a free, licensed copy of the server and developer applications, operating systems and programming languages taught in your classes.
There are five technical certificates are included as options within this degree
program: Visual Basic 6, C Languages, SQL, Java and Visual Basic.NET. Students may choose to pursue the A.S. or A.A.S. degree and earn technical
certificates while completing the requirements for the degree, or pursue one or more
certificate programs to develop or upgrade their skills in a particular field. Contact

A 180-hour internship is included in the program to provide valuable work experience.
An FCCJ intranet site posts jobs targeting our students. You may also post your resume and receive e-mails about and job-related topics. Our graduates are regularly employed by CSX, JEA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, the City of Jacksonville, Medtronic, Mayo Clinic and other regional employers including the government and military.
Starting salaries in Jacksonville average $35,000 - $40,000; the average salary is $63,450 statewide and the national average is $65,910.
This program prepares students to take exams for certification in both Microsoft Developer (MSD) and Sun Java.
Estimated tuition for Florida residents is $4,183 (as of 07/06).

Requirements.
You have two options in this program:
the associate in science (A.S.) degree, which
can prepare you for employment or transfer to a
state university, and the associate in applied
science (A.A.S.) degree, which is intended primarily
for students who want immediate employment after
graduation. If you choose the A.S. degree you must
take MAC 1105, MGF 1106 or a higher level mathematics.
The A.A.S. degree requires MAT 1033 or higher.
