OPT 2500 Contact Lens Theory — 3 Credit Hours

Prerequisites: OPT 1110, OPT 1210, OPT 1330, OPT 2090, OPT 2222 and OPT 2800L. Corequisites: OPT 2375, OPT 2375L, OPT 1150 and OPT 2801L. This course is an introductory course to ophthalmic contact lenses. Corneal anatomy and physiology is reviewed, including the shape and refractive properties of this structure. Contact lens materials such as rigid gas permeable, soft and silicone hydrogel are presented for the best fit, visual acuity and comfort for the patient. Contact lens care and solutions are included. Three contact hours. A.S., A.A.S.
