Prerequisite: AER 1291. This course is designed with knowledge-based, performance-based and intern-based skills identified as standards for the automotive industry. Topics will include theory, operation and diagnosis of torque converters and control circuits. Included will be the theory, inspection and teardown of automatic transmissions and transaxles. Performance skills include the diagnosis and repair of torque converters and control circuits, and teardown of automatic transmissions with emphasis on inspection and manufacturers specifications. The knowledge skills represent theory of the topics and support the mastery of the performance-based skills for this topic. Twenty-two and one-half contact hours: fifteen lecture hours, seven and one-half laboratory hours. A.S., A.A.S.
