Prerequisite AER 1612. This course is designed with knowledge-based, performance-based and intern-based skills identified as standards for the automotive industry. Topics will include the performance and diagnostics used to determine the problems and effect repair on automotive heating/air conditioning systems. Requirements and procedures for flushing and retrofitting AC systems will be covered. Performance skills will be demonstrated in component removal and installation with an emphasis on proper refrigerant handling. The knowledge skills represent theory of the topics and support the mastery of the performance-based skills for this topic. Twenty-two and one-half contact hours: fifteen lecture hours, seven and one-half laboratory hours. A.S., A.A.S.
