Prerequisite: AER 1002. This course is designed with knowledge-based, performance-based and intern-based skills identified as standards for the automotive industry. Topics will include information and hands-on skills required in todays automotive industry. Manufacturers service interval recommendations will be applied through inspections and performance of specific tasks. The routine maintenance procedures for performing recommended servicing will be researched using both manual and electronic information systems. The need for regular automotive servicing is stressed and compared to types of equipment failures that may occur from a neglect of recommended automotive servicing. The knowledge skills represent theory of the topics and support the mastery of the performance-based skills for this topic. Twenty contact hours: five lecture hours, fifteen laboratory hours.
