Prerequisite: AER 1293. This course is designed with knowledge-based, performance-based and intern-based skills identified as standards for the automotive industry. Topics will include theory, operation and diagnosis of computer-controlled trans missions and transaxles. Performance skills will include the proper diagnosis and repair of automatic transmissions using manual and electronic information to verify the complaint and correctly use diagnostic equipment to test drive and record the information identifying the problem. The knowledge skills represent theory of the topics and support the mastery of the performance-based skills for this topic. Twenty-two and one-half contact hours: fifteen lecture hours, seven and one-half laboratory hours. A.S., A.A.S.
