Prerequisite: AER 1007. This course is designed with knowledge-based, performance-based and intern-based skills identified as standards for the automotive industry. Topics will include theory and operation of auto motive heating and air conditioning systems, current legislation regulating refrigerant handling and heating/air conditioning components. Performance skills will encompass system testing, diagnosis and proper servicing procedures. Emphasis will be on refrigerant handling, identification and environmental concerns. The knowledge skills represent theory of the topics and support the mastery of the performance-based skills for this topic. Twenty-two and one-half contact hours: fifteen lecture hours, seven and one-half laboratory hours. A.S., A.A.S.
