Prerequisite: AER 1007. This course is designed with knowledge-based, performance-based and intern-based skills identified as standards for the automotive industry. Topics will include theory, operation and adjustments of todays steering systems including manual and power-assisted units. Performance skills will include steering column service and repair with steering linkage adjustments being performed on vehicles. Diagnosis and repair of both manual and power-assisted systems will be performed. The knowledge skills represent theory of the topics and support the mastery of the performance-based skills for this topic. Twenty-two and one-half contact hours: fifteen lecture hours, seven and one-half laboratory hours. A.S., A.A.S.
